The Top 3 Delicacies to Try in France

If you’re traveling to France in the summer of 2014 or later, here are the top 3 delicacies in France that you must not miss out on your french experience. Here are a few treats for you to try:

1. Soupe de poisson: On the top of French dishes you’ll love is ‘Soupe de poisson’, an orange colored soup that is accompanied by a dish containing small slices of crisp toast and a little bowl that has rouille in it. The dish has in it a lot of do it yourself element, which clearly explains to you that you have to complete the dish yourself. All you need to do is spread some rouille- a garlic based spicy sauce on the piece of toast and then dip it in the soup. Alternatively, what you can do is drop the spicy toast in the soup and then spoon it out later when you’re prepared to eat it.

2. Boulette d’Avesnes: Now if you’re willing to have this, you have to look closely and carefully at the cheese trolley when it arrives, and if you’re lucky enough you might spot some Boulette d’Avesnes, lurking near the back. It’s like a small pyramid structure and more or less red in color. Theirs is reason behind calling it a surprise symphony of French cheese and it is that it tastes stronger and spicier than almost any other cheese anywhere in the world. It like sticks to your taste buds once you have got it to taste, especially if you take it down with a glass of strong beer.

3. Religieuse au chocolat: More or less like a chocolate éclair, Religieuse au chocolat is one of the tastiest delicacies that you must try when in France. A religieuse is easy to spot because of the fact that it is made out of two round two round éclair-like parts, a little one stuck on top of a larger one. Religieuse are perfect to share - though of course you are faced with the problem of who gets which part. If chocolate is not your thing, they even occasionally come in a mix where one part has chocolate and the other coffee flavored icing.

Traditionally, France has witnessed some extremely strict rules as to the opening and closing of shops, but in the last few years nothing like this has been witnessed and there are few shops that remain open 24 hours. After 2009 shops have been allowed to open on Sundays.

The mode of payment that you want to follow is entirely your decision. Most of the shops do accept credit and debit cards, using the chip and pin security method, however, in rural areas mostly cheque and cash are acceptable.

Whether you are visiting the rural or the urban side of France, you definitely have a lot to see, a lot to explore and a lot to shop.
